There are several reasons why Bollywood actors and actresses grab headlines. Their online activity is limited to the promotion of movies, controversy, and advertising. Some well-known names in Bollywood have even resorted to venturing capital by investing in various firms with their own money. Many famous people also have an active role in the new companies in which they have invested, serving as both founders and spokespeople.
Three Bollywood actresses are included here for their involvement as startup investors.
1- Anushka Sharma
Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood celebrity, is the brains behind the direct-to-consumer clothing brand Nush and an investor in a number of domestic start-ups. Following the lead of her cricketer hubby Virat Kohli, she began investing in February 2022. Both of them invested in the vegan meat company Blue Tribe in a way that didn’t reveal their identities. The pair participated in the fundraising round for the fintech startup Digit Insurance in 2020.
2- Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt, known as Bollywood’s entrepreneur, has backed a company called Phool.co, which recycles flowers from religious buildings like mosques and temples to create items like organic fertilizer, premium incense without the use of charcoal, and more. The actress from Brahmastra has put money into fashion startups like StyleCraker and Nykaa. Alia has also just begun her own business venture, a line of children’s and maternity clothing called Ed-a-Mamma.
3- Shilpa Shetty Kundra
Shilpa Shetty Kundra, known as the “Fitness Queen of Bollywood,” made an undisclosed investment in direct-to-consumer (D2C) nutraceutical firms Fast&Up and Chicnutrix in 2022. She also serves as an ambassador for these companies, working with them to spread awareness about the need of self-care and better national health. Shilpa is an investor in both Mamaearth and Simple Soulful.
