Dahaad, a newly launched web series featuring Sonakshi Sinha, has received tremendous acclaim. Viewers have hailed Sonakshi as the “lady dabangg” and “lady chulbull panday” for her exceptional performance. Although many praised the actress, TV star Kamya Punjabi seemed to hold a contrasting view. Reports suggest that she subtly criticized Sonakshi Sinha by expressing her ability to watch only a single episode of her latest series.
In an interview, that is going viral on the Internet, she talked about ‘actors jinhe acting bhi nahi aati.’ Although she refused to name anybody, by taking hints from what she said, people felt she was referring to Sonakshi.
She told Hindustan Times,
“I started that show aur mujh se ek episode se zyada hazam nahi hua because unko bilkul acting nahi aati.”
She added,
“But what can one do… she is the daughter of a veteran, and then she is doing the web show.”
According to Mirchi Plus, Kamya also spoke about OTT vs Cinemas a while back. She said,
“I’m not the kind of person who’d be like, ‘Oh, I want to get into films or OTT’. I love television more and that’s my priority. My first love is television, and I am very happy doing TV,” she reasons, adding, “Also, I feel an actor is an actor whether you’re working on the small screen or OTT or the big screen. Many big actors come to promote their web series on TV shows only.”
When presented with an excellent job opportunity in the OTT (Over-The-Top) industry, Kamya Punjabi was asked if she would consider exploring her options. While acknowledging her concerns about working in the OTT space, she emphasized that she would never give up on television.
