Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya’s stepbrother, Vaibhav Pandya, have been apprehended by the Mumbai Police for allegedly defrauding him and his brother Krunal Pandya of approximately Rs 4.3 crore.
The incident stems from Vaibhav Pandya purportedly redirecting funds, totaling the said amount, from their joint business venture into a separate entity, contrary to the agreed-upon terms.
Initially set up in 2021, the business arrangement entailed a profit-sharing agreement of 40% each for Hardik and Krunal, with Vaibhav entitled to 20%. However, instead of adhering to this arrangement, Vaibhav allegedly formed a distinct company and diverted the funds.
Vaibhav Pandya is alleged to have diverted hundreds of thousands of rupees from the joint business account into his personal account, totaling Rs 1 crore. When approached by Hardik Pandya regarding this matter, Vaibhav purportedly issued threats aimed at tarnishing Hardik’s reputation. Subsequently, the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police has detained him in connection with this incident. Hardik Pandya, currently a member of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2024, had previously represented the Gujarat Lions.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police has pressed charges of cheating and forgery against Vaibhav, following a complaint lodged by Hardik. Meanwhile, Hardik has garnered attention not only for his cricketing prowess but also for assuming the captaincy of the Mumbai Indians, a position previously held by Rohit Sharma.
