When Ashneer Grover made his appearance as an investor on Shark Tank India, he quickly won the audience’s hearts with his unfiltered honesty. While the show garnered him a legion of fans, some couldn’t handle his straightforward approach. Yet, it’s this very demeanor that allows the entrepreneur to recount fascinating anecdotes without reservation.
Recalling a memorable encounter with Salman Khan on a podcast, Ashneer shared,
“Salman Khan se mila hoon. Usko humne sponsor rakha tha, toh uske shoot ke liye mila tha. Shoot se pehle mila tha usko brief karne ke liye ki company kya hai. Toh teen ghante baitha tha uske saath, uske manager ne bol diya ki photo nahi khichwani hai, sir thoda bura maan jaate hain. Maine kaha saale, maine bola, nahi khichwaunga photo, bhaad main ja tu. Matlab aisi kaunsi heropanti ho gayi “
(‘I met Salman Khan for a sponsorship deal and sat down with him for three hours before his shoot. His manager informed me that Salman wouldn’t want to take a photo as he might get upset. To which I replied, ‘I don’t care about a photo, you can go to hell.’)
Ashneer also praised Salman for his intelligence and business skills. He said,
“Banda bohot smart hai. Matlab voh jo logo ko lagta hai na ki hawa main hai, banda bohot genuinely smart hai. Usko business samajhta hai, usko branding samajhti hai. Usko apni image clear hai kya hai (He’s very smart. People think otherwise but he’s genuinely very smart. He understands business and branding. He’s clear about his image).”
He added,
“Jab hum ad bana rahe the toh usne clear bol diya tha ki dekho, mere ko ka larger than life hi dikhana, kyuki maine picture bhi banayai thi Tubelight, voh pitt gayi kyuki mere ko usme mandbuddhi dikha diya. Aur voh janta ko pasand nahi aata (When we were making the ad, he clearly told us to portray him as larger than life. He said in Tubelight, he was portrayed as an unintelligent man and the audience did not like it, hence the film was a disaster).”
Salman Khan will next be seen in Tiger 3 along with Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on November 12 this year.
