The successful rescue of 41 trapped workers from the Silkyara tunnel, after 17 days of intense efforts, had a significant spiritual aspect tied to the local deity, Baba Baukh Nag.
According to locals, the accident was attributed to the displeasure of the deity, and they believed that the workers could only be safely retrieved with Baba Baukh Nag’s blessings.
To ensure the success of the mission, a small temple dedicated to Baba Baukh Nag was established outside the tunnel. Rescue workers participated in daily prayers at the temple, seeking the deity’s divine intervention. Even foreign expert Arnold Dix joined in offering prayers to Baba Baukh Nag.
