In the ongoing saga of flight mishaps plaguing IndiGo Airlines, Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of Shaadi Dot Com, has voiced his discontent, demanding compensation for flight delays and a full refund.
Anupam Mittal, a judge on Shark Tank India, strongly condemned the airline for a 45-minute delay on an indigo flight from Mumbai to Delhi, where passengers endured an hour on the tarmac without air conditioning.
Mittal questioned whether this delay was a result of cost-cutting measures.
His return flight from Delhi to Mumbai experienced a further delay of two hours, leaving Mittal frustrated at the airline’s lack of accountability in refunding tickets for these incessant delays. Mittal tagged the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in his tweet, labeling IndiGo’s practices as “inhumane” and advocating for their prohibition. Here is the viral tweet:
kya ho gaya tumko @IndiGo6E Mum-Delhi > 45 minute delay on tarmac without AC 🤯 so u can keep costs down. Del-Mum > 2 hr delay but will not refund the ticket 😡 @DGCAIndia this is inhumane & should be made illegal

In response to Mittal’s grievances, IndiGo Airlines explained that the delay on his morning flight from Mumbai was due to unforeseen traffic congestion, while the delay on the Delhi-Mumbai flight was caused by a medical emergency on the incoming flight.
Additionally, we regret to inform you that the delay on the Delhi-Mumbai route was a result of an unexpected medical emergency on the incoming flight. Please rest assured that we understand the importance of your time and the impact such delays can have on your travel plans.(2/3)

Mittal engaged with responses to his tweet, with one user questioning who to blame now that fog is no longer an issue, to which Mittal replied, “Market Share!”

In another response, Mittal emphasized the need for competition in India’s airline sector and praised Vistara Airlines for their impressive service during his two-hour delayed flight from Delhi to Mumbai, prompting some users to express interest in starting a semi-private flight service, to which Mittal expressed interest.
needs competition … that’s all. Came back by Vistara … was impressive
