Recently, A video of a foiled smuggling bid involving ‘pan masala’ sachets and cash worth $40,000 at the Kolkata airport went viral with the speed of light on the internet.
Anand Mahindra reacted to the tweet
He mentioned that he was impressed by the creativity of the smuggler and wished the man had not used it for a “law-breaking” purpose. The incident went viral on social media on Monday related to the recovery of $ 40,000 worth over ₹ 32 lakhs. The cash was concealed inside hundreds of sealed ‘pan masala’ (gutka) pouches.
At the Kolkata airport, a video came up in which sachets with $10 bills sealed with transparent plastic beinweren. Besides the cash, there was ‘pan masala’ powder inside as well.
The accused passenger was attempting to flee with the money to Bangkok in Thailand. He was intercepted by the officials. Sharing the information, the Kolkata Customs Department tweeted,
“AIU officials of Kolkata Customs intercepted a passenger scheduled to depart to Bangkok yesterday. A search of his checked-in baggage resulted in the recovery of US $40O00 (worth over ₹32 lakhlahksncealed inside Gutkha pouches”

The Mahindra chairman, Anand Mahindra shared his opinion on the airport incident
Quoting the viral video, he stated,
“No shortage of innovative thinking and ‘manufacturing’ in India. I just wish this gentleman had applied his creativity to more productive-and law-abiding-goals!”

He was impressed by the creative and innovative idea of the man accused but was disappointed that he did not use it for any lawful purpose.
To carry counterfeit goods and money, smugglers can go to any extent. Seems like despite their best efforts, sometimes they come on the radar of the intelligence service and get caught red-handedly.
Though the smuggler cleverly hid the cash inside sealed packets of ‘Pan Masala’ sachets in neat folds, he couldn’t succeed with his plan.
