During an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Sonam Kapoor’s father and Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor left everyone, including Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, shocked as he revealed that he doesn’t know the meaning of his daughter’s name.
Yes, you read that right. Amitabh Bachchan was surprised to learn that Anil Kapoor didn’t know the meaning of “Sonam” when he named his daughter. “Kya soch ke naam rakha tha (So, what did you think before naming her?)” When asked why he chose the name, Anil admitted he didn’t think much about it at the time, he said: “Maine zyada socha nahi tha. (I didn’t think much)”.
Anil Kapoor then revealed the story behind Sonam. “I was in Ladakh shooting for Joshile. Waha ek ladki thi Sonam. She was a very nice girl, very sweet girl and she was differently abled. To mujhko wo ladki bohot achi lagi, bohot innocent lagi. To maine kaha ki agar meri beti hui to main uska naam Sonam rakhunga. Ladakhi mein Sonam ka matlab hota hai lucky (There was a nice. I really liked that girl and I decided that if I have a daughter, I will name her Sonam).”
Anil Kapoor’s recent film “Fighter,” co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, has achieved remarkable success, surpassing the Rs 170 crore mark in India. Despite facing competition from “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, it still has the potential to exceed Rs 200 crore in box office earnings.
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan has several exciting projects lined up, including “Kalki 2898 AD” with Prabhas and Deepika, and his Tamil film debut “Vettaiyan” alongside Rajinikanth.
