Shatrughan Sinha commented on the ongoing speculations surrounding his daughter Sonakshi’s alleged wedding with Zaheer Iqbal, stating that she hasn’t disclosed any plans to him yet.
Speaking to Zoom, the veteran actor clarified that he’s currently in Delhi and hasn’t been informed about any wedding arrangements by his daughter. He emphasized that until Sonakshi confides in him, he remains unaware of any such developments.
Shatrugan Sinha acknowledged being acquainted with the media reports but stressed on the importance of his daughter’s discretion in making personal decisions.
He expressed his trust in her judgment and affirmed her right to autonomy as an adult.
“I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I flew down here. I haven’t spoken to anyone about my daughter’s plans. So your question is, is she getting married? The answer is that she hasn’t told me anything about it. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai (I know as much about this as what the media has told me). If and when she takes me into confidence, my wife and I will give the couple my blessings. We wish her happiness always.”
he added.
Sinha further mentioned his desire to participate joyously in his daughter’s wedding celebrations, expressing his readiness to dance at the procession.
He then continued saying,
“Having said that, I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to be dancing right in front of the baaraat.”
Reflecting on the changing dynamics of parent-child relationships, he remarked on the contemporary trend of children informing rather than seeking consent from their parents. He concluded by affirming his anticipation to be formally informed about any forthcoming plans regarding his daughter’s wedding.
“I am being asked by people close to me why I am not aware of this and the media is aware of it. All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maap-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (these days, children don’t seek permission from parents, they just inform). We are waiting to be informed,”
he said.

The purported invitations, resembling magazine covers with the phrase “The rumours are true,” have reportedly been circulated among close associates, family members, and the cast of the film Heeramandi. The nuptial festivities are anticipated to take place at Bastian in Mumbai.
