Renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, the mastermind behind the installation of the Ram Lalla idol at Ayodhya’s newly constructed Ram Mandir, recently shared intriguing details about the idol’s creation. According to Yogiraj, ‘Hanumanji’ would visit the workshop daily while he was meticulously sculpting the Ram Lalla idol, portraying the divine figure as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus.
Yogiraj vividly recounted the regular visits, stating,
“Hanuman ji har din aate the. Unka bhi dekhne ka mann tha shayad”

During the crafting process, a curious monkey would make its appearance around 4-5 pm in the evening, showing a keen interest in observing the creation of the idol.
Yogiraj mentioned that despite efforts to keep the monkey at bay with curtains, it would persist in coming for the daily darshan (sacred viewing) of Ram Lalla.
The 51-inch statue of Ram Lalla is a remarkable creation made from a three-billion-year-old Krishna Shila rock sourced from HD Kote and Mysore districts. The stone, named Krishna Shila due to its color resembling that of Lord Krishna, holds profound significance.
Expressing his gratitude, Yogiraj shared,
“I feel I am the luckiest person on the earth now. The blessing of my ancestors, family members, and Lord Ram Lalla has always been with me. Sometimes I feel like I am in a dream world. This is the biggest day for me,”
speaking on the occasion of the Ram Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The meticulous craftsmanship took Yogiraj six months to complete. Despite facing challenges during this period, Yogiraj’s wife, Vijetha, affirmed his resilience in overcoming them.
Netizens were quick to react to Yogiraj’s account, with one user noting,
“Hanumanji made sure he’s everywhere when Prabhu Sri Raam comes back to Ayodhya.” Another expressed, “No words to express the happiness you have given to all Hindus in the form of the Shree Ram ji Sculpture.”
A third user acknowledged Yogiraj’s efforts, stating,
“It is not art, it is tapasya! Shat shat naman to Yogiraj ji.”
Yet another praised his humility, simplicity, and purity, extending gratitude to Yogiraj.
Arun Yogiraj, selected by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, has previously sculpted statues of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate in Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the Pran Pratishtha ceremony rituals at the Ram Mandir, which was subsequently opened for darshan on Monday.
