    Social media has undoubtedly become a platform for the dissemination of information, but unfortunately, it has also turned into a dumping ground for trash. With the ease of creating a social media account, people are now free to post malicious, regressive, and often hateful and vulgar comments from the comfort of their homes, hiding behind their laptops and mobile screens. Such comments are typically intended to hurt the person on the receiving end. Celebrity culture has made this problem worse, with many individuals being trolled for bizarre reasons.

    These instances only serve to highlight the lack of empathy in our society and how callous we have become towards one another.

    People who are not aware immediately assumed Shah Rukh Khan was spitting during Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites, but the actor was offering dua. Those who accused him without knowing accused SRK of spitting while he was actually blowing air, which is a religious rite for Muslims. In case you don’t know, Ruqyah is the Islamic ritual of reading holy texts and then blowing air.

    R Madhavan was mocked for having a residence that “welcomes personnel of all faiths.”

    “What is the point of having a cross in the background?! Is that a Hindu temple? You’ve just lost my admiration. Do Hindu Gods appear in Christian churches? All of this is a made-up drama that you created today!, “a person on Twitter stated.
