Former Shiv Sena leader Ramesh Solanki has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the creators of the film “Annapoorani,” featuring Nayanthara in the lead role, on charges of hurting Hindu sentiments. Additionally, he has accused the filmmakers of endorsing Love Jihad and disrespecting Lord Ram.
Expressing his concerns on his social media account, Solanki denounced the movie as ‘Anti-Hindu’ and asserted that its release was intentionally timed to coincide with the upcoming inauguration of the Lord Ram’s Temple in Ayodhya.
Solanki has urged Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, to take stringent action against both the movie’s creators and the streaming platform, Netflix.

In his online post, Solanki stated which is roughly translated as:
“At a time when the entire world is eagerly awaiting the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios, and Trident Arts. 1. A daughter of a Hindu Poojari is depicted offering Namaz to cook Biryani. 2. The film allegedly promotes Love Jihad. 3. Farhan (the actor) supposedly convinces the actress to consume meat, claiming that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater.”

He further shared images of his formal complaint and called upon authorities to register an FIR against those responsible for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, tagging Netflix India and Zee Studios.
As of now, there has been no response from either the streaming platform or the movie’s producers. “Annapoorani,” a Tamil film centering around a character aspiring to be a chef, premiered in theaters on December 1, 2023.
