Tanushree Dutta has strongly criticized Nana Patekar for denying the allegations she made against him during the #MeToo movement six years ago, calling him a “pathological liar.” The public feud between Dutta and Patekar, which began in 2018, resurfaced after Patekar finally addressed the accusations, dismissing them as lies.
Nana Patekar Responds to #MeToo Allegations
In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Patekar downplayed the allegations Dutta made against him, claiming that he always knew they were false, which is why he did not get angry or respond at the time. Patekar stated,
“I knew that it was all a lie. That’s why I didn’t get angry. When everything was a lie, why should I be angry? And all those things are old. They have happened. What can we talk about them? Everyone knew the truth. What could I say at that time when nothing like this happened? Suddenly, someone says that you did this, you did that. What would I have answered to all these things? Should I have said that I didn’t do this? I know the truth that I didn’t do anything.”
Tanushree Dutta’s Reaction
In response, Dutta told Zoom that Patekar is a pathological liar. She recounted an incident in Varanasi where Patekar slapped a boy during a film shoot and then tried to pass it off as part of the scene, only to face public backlash and issue a half-hearted apology. Dutta said, ”
“How big a liar Nana Patekar is the whole world knows now after the Varanasi boy slapping incident during the shooting of Anil Sharma’s film. Nana first tried to make it look as if slapping the kid was part of shoot and then he got severe public backlash for trying to cover up his abuse. Then he suddenly took a U-turn and apologised halfheartedly.”
Why Nana Patekar Addressed the Allegations Now
Dutta suggested that Patekar’s recent comments were prompted by his fear of her possibly filing another FIR against him for various charges, including conspiracy to murder, criminal intimidation, and harassment. She described a period of severe harassment, stalking, and threats that she endured, which she attributed to Patekar’s associates.
“Now, he is scared and his supporter base in Bollywood has dwindled. All those who supported him are either bankrupt or have sidelined him. People can see through his manipulations now and thus he comes up with another major gaslight. Responding to a six-year-old allegation! Every director he has ever worked with has a story to tell about his manipulative and abusive behaviour on the set. If he can slap and hit directors then misbehavior with women is no big deal for him, don’t you think?? Even Veteran actress Dimple Kapadia called him obnoxious in a viral Youtube interview. So many people cannot lie. Nana Patekar himself is the liar.”
Nana Patekar’s Reputation in Bollywood
Dutta emphasized that Patekar’s recent statements are an attempt to cover up his abusive behavior, which many in the industry are aware of. She noted that even veteran actress Dimple Kapadia once called him obnoxious in an interview. Dutta added,
Regrets About Working with Nana Patekar
Reflecting on her decision to work with Patekar in the film “Horn OK Please,”
“I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. My biggest regret in life is to agree to do a song with a flop character artist whom no one cared about and who was finished professionally. My biggest professional mistake was agreeing to work with this characterless evil loser! Today the whole of Mumbai knows how I was framed and mentally tortured by this Nana Patekar. He is getting exposed totally even in his own circle…thus this is his way to cover up another scandal…one that involves a conspiracy to finish me off.”
