Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid turned 50 on Wednesday. The former cricketer was known as ‘The Wall’ and “The Backbone” as he is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket.
He has played 340 ODIs and 164 Test matches for the Indian Cricket team and served as Skipper for two years. He bags the fourth position on the list which has all the batsmen’s names who have scored 10,000 plus runs in Test cricket.
The astonishing former cricketer who is known for his humbleness took the charge as the head coach of team India in November 2021 and since then the men-in-blue are performing a little better than before.
Rahul Dravid celebrated his 50th birthday with other fellow team members in Kolkata on the eve of the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka.
During the match, the commentators were discussing his remarkable career and his batting stats were shown on the big screen. Dravid had a priceless reaction after he saw his stats appear on the screen.
With the ODI World Cup 2023 coming in a few months, Rahul Dravid has a huge responsibility on his shoulders as he will have to prepare the players for the big cup which is going to be played in India.
In case you don’t know, India’s head coach hasn’t won a single ICC cup and will look to get it for India this year as a mentor.
Moreover, team India is also hoping to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship 2023 as it is currently in second position on the table.
The first position has been taken by Australia. India last won an ICC tournament in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and since then there has been no such achievement. MS Dhoni is the only captain to win all three ICC trophies as a captain of Team India.
