Social media scams are so common these days. Every day we hear or read news of people getting scammed online. From impersonating as police officials to celebrities and friends, these scammers are now using Artificial Intelligence to scam people.
In the latest instance, a scammer impersonated legendary keeper-batter MS Dhoni texted a fan to send him Rs. 600. Yes, you read that right.
Scammer Impersonating MS Dhoni Asks Fan On Instagram For ₹600 To ‘Return Home By Bus’
A scammer, who was claiming to be the legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni, texted a person on Instagram, saying that he needed ₹600 to return to his home via bus. The scammer, who goes by by the name mahi77i2 on Instagram, also said he would return the money once he reach home safely.
Notably, Dhoni’s official Instagram handle is mahi7781.
“Hi, I am MS Dhoni, I am messaging you from my private account. I am in Ranchi outskirts and I have forgotten my wallet. Can you PhonePe me ₹600 so I can return home by bus, will send back once I get home,” read the text sent by the scammer.
To reinforce his claim, the individual shared a picture of Dhoni and used the iconic Chennai Super Kings slogan, “Whistle Podu,” to add credibility to his message.

Meanwhile, fans on social media came up with hilarious reactions to the viral Tweet. Pointing at RCB’s poor show at the IPl 2024, a person said, “Write ‘I support RCB’, problem solved.”
Another could not figure out why the scammer “why he added whistle podu at the end.”
