The Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha has flopped domestically but the Official remake has surpassed Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and became the biggest Hindi film of 2022 internationally.
Even though Laal Singh Chaddha has failed to perform at Box Office domestically, but the film has broken a significant record at the international box office.
As per Bollywood Hungama, the Forrest Gump official remake is now the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in international markets and has surpassed big hits such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and The Kashmir Files.
Laal Singh Chaddha total earnings
Laal Singh Chaddha has done a business of $7.5 million (Rs 59 crore) in over a week of its release. The film has managed to surpass Gangubai Kathiawadi ($7.47 million), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ($5.88 million), and The Kashmir Files ($5.7 million). If we compare, each of those three movies was also a major hit in India.
However, The Telugu hit RRR has made nearly $20 million from international markets.
Laal Singh Chaddha, on the other hand, has been able to earn more than Rs 55 crore. The film was produced on a reported budget of Rs 180 crore and initiated production before the pandemic. Laal Singh Chaddha’s total earning stands at Rs 126 crore worldwide.
The film still has a chance to earn a theatrical profit but only if it performs well in China (which depends on whether or not it even gets a China release).
Bollywood movies are struggling to perform at the international box office, especially after the pandemic but Aamir remains a major star there even now, with the back-to-back success of Secret Superstar and Dangal. However, his 2018 film Thugs of Hindostan flopped in China as well.
As the previous report by Bollywood Hungama explained that latest movie is Aamir’s biggest flop since 2000’s Mela. This is also the first time that Aamir has delivered two back-to-back flops since 1947 Earth and Mela.
Hindi remake of Forrest Gump is directed by Advait Chandan and also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya in prominent roles.
