Directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by his father, G.P. Sippy movie named Sholay is still one of the favorite movie numerous people and it is still watched by fans. The film was unique and super-hit not only because of wonderful star cast and storyline but also for its remarkable approach of focusing more on the friendship aspect than the love story. Jai and Veeru, the iconic duo that was portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra turned out to be a common name for signifying friendship. The ver first picture that comes to mind when we hear the iconic song Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge is Jai and Veeru seated on scooter.
Moreover, the movie also helped in enhancing the friendship between Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in real life as well.
Interestingly, after so many years, both veteran actors are still enjoying their everlasting bond and friendship with each other, which blossomed during Sholay.
Dharmendra Replied To His Fan
Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra are very close to each other in real life as well and they both are known for their work together in films such as Chupke Chupke, Sholay, and Ram Balram and others.
Recently on Twitter, a fan claimed that Amitabh Bachchan was the “weakest link” in the 1975 film Chupke Chupke. He also said that Amitabh’s performance in Sholay wasn’t superior to Dharmendra’s.
The fan’s original reply was in response to a reviewer who claimed that Chupke Chupke was their favorite movie because Bachchan “is so nuanced and natural—so perfect” in it.
Replying to this, a fan responded,
“This fake adulation is laughable! #ChupkeChupke was a #Dharmendra film, he chewed it! #AmitabhBachchan was the weakest link of the film! And in #Sholay in no way Amitabh was better than Dharmendra, they were at best equal! Stop running down @aapkadharam for someone else’s PR!”

Dharmendra reaction follows a vague response to a latest interview with Javed Akhtar
The lyricist Javed Akhtar recently said that Bachchan was the final pick for the movie after Dharmendra rejected it. India Today quoted Javed as saying,
“Amitabh Bachchan was actually the last choice for Zanjeer. The script was written for Dharmendra ji but for some reason he later refused to work on it.”
#JavedAkhtar reveals that #AmitabhBachchan was the last choice for #Zanjeer; #Dharmendra, everybody else refused to do it as 'its hero he was supposed to be a grim, serious, bitter person throughout the film'@Javedakhtarjadu @SrBachchan@aapkadharam #AmitabhBachchanBirthday pic.twitter.com/i8bcpVA7zh

Dharmendra responded to Javed’s statement by saying,
“Javed, kaise ho… dikhave ki iss duniya mein haqeeqaten dabi rah jaati hain. Jeetey raho… Dilon ko gudgudana khoob aata hai… kaash sar chad ke bolne ka jaadu bhi sekh liya hota”
