Kangana Ranaut is one of the most popular and loved actresses of Bollywood. Her talent, versatility, and passion for her work have made her the top-ranked actress of Bollywood and had earned her national awards. Recently, she was also awarded the Padma Shri by President Ram Nath Kovind.
While she is loved and appreciated for her acting skills, on the other hand, more often than not the actress finds herself at the receiving end of criticism because of her controversial statements.
Lately, the actress is in the eye of a storm and is getting heavily criticized from several quarters for her controversial comment where she had claimed that the Independence India won in 1947 was “bheek” (alms).

Well, while addressing an event on Thursday, Kangana had said that India “got real freedom in 2014,” while claiming that the freedom India got in 1947 was ‘bheekh’ (alms). She had said:
Speaking at the Times Now Summit, the actress said: “It wasn’t azaadi [freedom] but bheek [alms], and the real freedom came in 2014,” The comment was in refernce to the year in which the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected to power. There’s no secret to the fact that Kangana is an ardent supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party.
Meanwhile, her statements didn’t go down well with the Indians, who are now trolling her left, right, and center as many felt her comment was nothing more than an insult to the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. From politicians, celebrities to common people, everyone took to Twitter and expressed their disappointment with the controversial statements made by Kangana Ranaut.
Several politicians also urged that all her national awards should be withdrawn. This time criticism also came from the BJP as well, with many BJP leaders slamming the actress for her non-sensical statement.
Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:
हमारी आज़ादी को भीख कोई मानसिक रूप से विक्षिप्त असंतुलित ही कहेगा-वह आज़ादी जिसके लिए लाखों ने अपने प्राणों की आहुतियाँ दीं-ख़ैर उनसे और क्या आशा?
लेकिन @navikakumar जी, आज़ादी के लिए इस्तेमाल किए गए इस सस्ते शब्द और वक्तव्य की आपने आलोचना क्यों नहीं की? या आपसे भी आशा बेकार है? pic.twitter.com/lk3dNsQ67V

#KanganaRanaut may think India got Independence in 2014 but this cannot be endorsed by any true Indian. This is an insult to millions of freedom fighters who gave up their lives so that present generations can live a life of self-respect & dignity as free citizens of a democracy. pic.twitter.com/o0EtH0hukU

Brainless #KanganaRanaut said that India didn’t get independence in 1947! Woh waali Azadi Toh Bheekh Thi. Actually India got independence in 2014. Today all the freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh etc must be crying in heaven after hearing this.

pic.twitter.com/eo2FRyekog

Freedom of speech & expression guarented by Article 19 allows one to utter bullshit as well.
No Indian citizen in Independent India has enjoyed Article 19 as much as #KanganaRanaut after 2014.

Kangana Ranaut's views about Indian freedom struggle are no doubt problematic.
But more problematic are the people cheering her for her views.

Remember Ms Kangana Ranaut before she was permanently deplatformed by Twitter wanted Modi to show his “Rudra 2002 roop”. A woman who desperately wants riots
