1. Veer Zara – 2004:
Veer Zara is one of the iconic movies of Shah Rukh Khan’s career. The role played by Preity Zinta received a lot of praises, however, she wasn’t the first choice for the role of the female lead. Kajol was the first choice of Yash Chopra for the role of ‘Zara’, however, Kajol rejected the role and the role eventually went to Preity Zinta.
2. Dil Toh Pagal Hai – 1997:
Another superhit movie of Shah Rukh Khan, where Kajol was the first preference to play Karisma’s role in the film. However, Kajol didn’t like the part and turned it down and the role eventually went to Karisma Kapoor, who later won the National Award for her role.
3. Mohabbatein – 2000:
Seems like Kajol has always been the first choice to be paired with Shah Rukh Khan as his love interest. This time as well, Kajol was the first choice to play his dead girlfriend in the movie. However, the actress rejected the role for unknown reasons, and the role eventually went to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
4. 3 Idiots – 2009:
Kajol was the first choice of Rajkumar Hirani to play the role of Priya in 3 Idiots. Thinking that the character wouldn’t have much to do in the movie being the protagonist’s girlfriend, she turned down the offer. The role was eventually done by Kareena Kapoor Khan.
5. Shakti: The Power– 2002:
Kajol was offered the main role in the movie however, there were rumors that Ajay Devgn didn’t approve her of working again with SRK. As a result, Kajol rejected the role and it was later on done by Karisma Kapoor.
6. Chalte Chalte– 2003:
The blockbuster romantic movie starring SRK and Rani Mukherjee in the lead role was initially offered to Kajol. But she rejected the role for unknown reasons.
7. Dil Se– 1998:
Dil Se is one of the most loved Mani Ratnam classics and even to this day, it is touted as one of the best films to be made on such a sensitive issue. The role of Meghna went to Manisha Koirala, who did an incredible job in the movie.
8. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna– 2006:
Kajol was offered to play the role played by Rani Mukherjee in the movie. As per the rumors, the role was rejected by Kajol because of Ajay Devgn’s disapproval.
9. Khamoshi: The Musical– 1996:
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie was first offered to Kajol to play the lead role opposite Salman Khan. However, she turned it down and it went to Manisha Koirala.
