Ranbir Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actors, has enjoyed a string of blockbusters in his illustrious career. From his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya to winning accolades for films like Rockstar, Barfi, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Kapoor has left an indelible mark on the industry.
While he has achieved tremendous success and is currently basking the success of ‘ANIMAL’ there are intriguing instances where Kapoor turned down scripts that later became box office hits.
Here are five films that the Ranbir Kapoor rejected:
Delhi Belly:
Ranbir Kapoor declined the lead role in Aamir Khan-produced Delhi Belly, a decision that led to Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan, taking on the role. The film, made on a budget of Rs 23 crore, went on to gross approximately Rs 91 crore worldwide.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara:
In the critically acclaimed Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ranbir was initially approached for the role of Arjun Saluja, later played by Hrithik Roshan. The film earned a staggering Rs 175 crore worldwide.
Dil Dhadakne Do:
Another Zoya Akhtar creation, Dil Dhadakne Do, had Ranbir in mind for the role of Kabir Mehra, eventually portrayed by Ranveer Singh. The film, made against a budget of Rs 58 crore, garnered a worldwide revenue of Rs 145 crore.
Gully Boy:
For the third time, Ranbir reportedly turned down a Zoya Akhtar film, Gully Boy. Although Akhtar offered him a supporting role, Ranbir opted out, and the lead roles were played by Ranveer Singh and Ranbir’s wife, Alia.
2 States:
Director Abhishek Varman initially offered Ranbir the lead role in the film 2 States, based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel. However, the role eventually went to Arjun Kapoor, and the film, featuring Ranbir’s better half Alia, performed well at the box office.
