The role of an HR professional is demanding, involving talent acquisition, managing employee relations, and upholding company policies with a courteous and professional approach. HR specialists often interact with numerous candidates, and their contact information is widely shared for interviews and inquiries. Unfortunately, this exposure can also lead to unwanted attention and even harassment.
Recently, Harshita Mishra, a talent acquisition specialist from Noida, brought attention to the troubling experiences she faces as an HR professional. On LinkedIn, Mishra posted screenshots of inappropriate messages sent by rejected candidates.
“Candidates who don’t get selected, start to disregard their boundaries. Inappropriate nighttime texts and calls have become a regular occurrence. Let’s be clear, rejection is a chance for growth, not an invitation to overstep. My phone number is solely for professional communication. As professionals, you’re here to build your careers, if not then at least strive to be respectful human beings who value others’ boundaries and time,”
Mishra wrote in her post.
“I’ve shared screenshots to illustrate the severity of this issue, without hiding numbers, as this needs to be exposed. I’m committed to maintaining a respectful and calm demeanour, even in the face of inappropriate behavior. Don’t mistake this for my weakness,”
Harshita further revealed.
