In an unexpected incident, a woman took to Twitter to share her displeasure after receiving chicken instead of the vegetarian food she had ordered through Zomato. The customer, Nirupama Singh, posted a video displaying the dish she received, claiming it contained chicken despite her order being vegetarian. In the brief four-second clip, she is seen using a spoon to break a food item, confirming it was chicken.
Expressing her frustration, Ms. Singh tweeted,

Zomato quickly responded to the issue, offering an apology. The company tweeted,
“Hi Nirupama, we sincerely apologise for this mishap. Please share your registered phone number over a private message for us to investigate this further.”
The tweet has since garnered over 500,000 views and 675 likes, sparking varied reactions from users.
One user commented, “This is my worst nightmare. What if I get a bite without knowing?” Another wrote, “While Zomato is responsible for delivery, it’s 99% the restaurant’s fault. Too sad this mess-up is still.”

A third user expressed shock, calling the incident “horrific,” while another mentioned, “I saw news of someone suing for a similar mistake and getting compensated heavily. Not giving ideas, just saying.”
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. A similar incident occurred last year when a customer discovered a chicken piece in the coffee they ordered online. Despite receiving an apology from both the restaurant and the food delivery app, the customer chose to end their association with Zomato permanently.
This incident highlights the importance of careful handling and verification of food orders to avoid such mistakes in the future.
