Actor and content creator Prajakta Koli recently responded to a woman who accused her of influencing young girls to delay marriage. At the Saahitya Aaj Tak event in Delhi on November 23, Prajakta faced this question during the session “Influencer Se OTT Tak.”
The 31-year-old, engaged to longtime partner Vrishank Khanal and set to marry next year, was asked about the “right age” for a woman to marry. Prajakta emphasized, “There’s no right time—women should marry when they feel ready.” The woman countered, saying Prajakta wasn’t setting the right example, adding that her own daughter was insisting on marrying late, leaving her parents confused.
Prajakta firmly yet politely responded,
“Har ladki ko jab mann ho tab shaadi karni chahye. Main bas ye kahugi. Chahein umar 31 ya 42, shaadi tab karo jab mann ho. Baaki aap apni beti se puch lena (Every girl should get married when she wants to. I just want to say this. It doesn’t matter if you are 31 or 42, get married when you feel like making that decision. And you can leave the rest to your daughter).”
Her words were met with cheers and applause from the audience.
During the event, Prajakta also spoke about handling trolls, staying grounded, and facing failures. Addressing negativity on social media, she said, “
“I read the comments. But a comment is baseless, if it comes from sheer hate, if it doesn’t make me happy or make me think, then I don’t spend time in replying to it. I am extremely lucky to get an audience which invests a lot of energy in watching what I do. I have not yet seen a comment that really triggered me.”
She also highlighted the importance of staying humble as an artist, saying,
“I am very aware from day one that whatever opportunities I am getting are because of the work that I’ve done on YouTube over the years. I feel scared sometimes. But, I feel it’s necessary to be scared that way. If I stopped getting scared, that would be the day I’d start being arrogant,”
On another note, Prajakta recently announced her debut as an author. Her upcoming fictional romance novel will be available for pre-order from December 5, with the release date to follow soon.
