Ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Virat Kohli, the Indian batting icon, had a tense exchange with the Australian media at the Melbourne Airport. Kohli was reportedly upset over cameras allegedly being directed at his family.
According to 7 News, the 36-year-old cricket superstar confronted a TV reporter, expressing his displeasure over what he believed was an invasion of his family’s privacy. Kohli reportedly said,
“With my kids, I need some privacy. You can’t film without asking me.”

A journalist clarified that the cameras were not pointed at his children, which seemed to ease the situation. Kohli, known for his strong stance on protecting his children’s privacy, has consistently opposed them being filmed or photographed without consent.
ON-FIELD CHALLENGES AWAIT
Kohli’s fiery temperament off the field contrasts with his current struggles on it. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Kohli has had a mixed performance. Apart from his century in Perth, he has struggled to deliver consistently, often falling to deliveries outside the off-stump.
With the series tied 1-1, the Boxing Day Test holds immense significance. It not only determines the series winner but could also decide the contender for the World Test Championship Final in the 2023-25 cycle.
END OF AN ERA?
Speculation is rife that the ongoing WTC cycle might mark the swansong for several senior Indian players, including Kohli. As the Indian team transitions into a new era, fans hope Kohli ends his illustrious Test career on a high note, should these be his final games.
