In a recent interview, Somy Ali, former girlfriend of Salman Khan, discussed the end of their relationship and Khan’s romance with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
During the 1990s, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were a prominent couple in Bollywood. Their love story began on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. At that time, Salman was already in a relationship with Somy Ali, and they were living together. However, things changed when Salman and Aishwarya started dating.
Somy Ali recently shared more details about this chapter in an interview with Times Now. She recalled an incident when she called the set of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Salman didn’t pick up, as he was busy shooting. When she contacted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he explained that Salman was in the middle of a shot. Somy found this response odd and questioned Bhansali, saying,
“If he is in a shot, why aren’t you directing it? Why are you answering my call?” This response seemed to corner Bhansali, leaving him unsure of what to say.
Ali further revealed that Aishwarya used to visit Salman’s gym when they were living together. They stayed on the ground floor of Galaxy Apartments, where they also had a gym. When asked about the start of Salman and Aishwarya’s romance, Somy believed that Salman fell in love during the filming of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. She also admitted,
“I was getting information from the servants inside who favored me. I knew in my heart that their relationship was going to blossom. I knew it was time for me to leave.”
The actress eventually ended things with Salman. As is known, Salman and Aishwarya’s relationship lasted for a few years before ending in 2002, with Aishwarya later revealing that the relationship had become abusive. In a past interview, Aishwarya called that chapter a “nightmare,” and expressed gratitude that it was over, stating she would not work with Salman Khan again for the sake of her well-being.
