On August 2, during the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, India’s captain Rohit Sharma once again amused fans with his on-field wit. In a light-hearted exchange with all-rounder Washington Sundar, captured by the stump mic, Rohit’s humorous side shone through.
The memorable moment happened in the 29th over of Sri Lanka’s innings while Sundar was bowling. A video clip of their conversation quickly gained traction on social media.
During the over, Sundar had appealed for LBW against Sri Lankan batsman Dunith Wellalage. After the umpire rejected the appeal, Sundar turned to Rohit for a second opinion.
Rohit Sharma, consulting wicketkeeper KL Rahul who hadn’t heard an edge, playfully scolded Sundar with,
“What? You tell me. Mere ko kya dekh raha hai. Sab kya main karu tere liye?” (What? You tell me. What am I supposed to see? Should I do everything for you?)

This playful banter added a touch of fun to the match and highlighted Rohit Sharma’s ability to maintain a relaxed atmosphere on the field. His blend of humor and competitive spirit continues to endear him to fans and reinforce his reputation as a charismatic leader in Indian cricket.
Sri Lankan Batting and Match Outcome
Despite Sri Lanka’s batting struggles against India’s disciplined bowling, half-centuries from Pathum Nissanka (56) and Dunith Wellalage (67 not out) helped them set a competitive total of 230 for eight. Nissanka’s focus and Wellalage’s confidence were notable, though other Sri Lankan batsmen failed to capitalize on their solid starts.
The match ended in a tie, with India also finishing at 230 runs.
