Pankaj Bhadouria, a renowned chef and culinary expert, recently shared a delightful anecdote involving Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. Rising to fame as the winner of MasterChef India Season 1 in 2010, Pankaj’s journey from a school teacher to a celebrated chef has been remarkable. She has since hosted numerous cooking shows and authored several cookbooks.
Pankaj Bhadouria’s First Encounter with Akshay Kumar
In a recent Instagram post, Pankaj reminisced about her first meeting with Akshay Kumar during the filming of MasterChef India in Udaipur. She was suffering from a severe migraine, and Akshay kindly offered his own medication to help her. She recounted:
“During MasterChef, we were shooting in Udaipur for a task. I was suffering from a severe migraine and the heat was worsening the situation for me. That is when Akshay Kumar not only shared his own medication for migraine with me and consoled me.”

Pankaj then shared how Akshay Kumar playfully stole her wristwatch during their conversation. In a series of photos, Akshay can be seen slyly removing her watch without her noticing.
Pankaj fondly recalled:
“But also, in the process, very slyly slipped off my watch from my hand! He was such a prankster! Notice his hand on my wrist slipping it off… and then my watch was gone! But yes, this gave me a reason to forget my woes and smile and move on! My MasterChef Journey is full of such wonderful memories! Let me know if you want me to share more of them!”

Earlier, in a conversation with HospiBuz, Pankaj reflected on how her previous career as a school teacher helped her succeed in the demanding MasterChef competition. She explained that the skills she developed, such as working within strict deadlines and meticulous planning, were invaluable during the competition.
Born in New Delhi, Pankaj lost her father at 13 and her mother at 22. She holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Lucknow. Pankaj is married to Charu Samarth, and they have two children, Sonalika and Siddhant.
