Kusha Kapila, a prominent figure in comedy and influencing, was deeply affected by a roast on Samay Raina’s show. Following her 2023 separation from her long-term partner, Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia, Kusha found herself the subject of a controversial roast that quickly went viral.
In her first public response to the roast, Kusha took a month to gather her thoughts before discussing the matter in an interview with Fever FM. She clarified that her previous statement indicated she had not been paid for participating in the roast and was unaware of the jokes that would be made. She explained:
“I needed to clarify why this roast happened and what was the reason behind it. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn’t paid for this and didn’t know what jokes would be made.”
“Mujhe unko batana tha ki kyo hua yeh roast, aisa kya tha. Toh yeh meri taraf se ek simple clarification tha, ki paise mile the toh aise baithe the, nahi pata tha ki kya jokes aane wale hai.”
Kusha Kapila emphasized that she is not opposed to the roast format itself.
She appreciated the humor of others on The Pretty Good Roast Show but expressed a wish that she had been aware of the jokes targeting her.
She said:
“I have respect for all artists, so I have no problem with the roast format. My issue is that I wish I had been informed about the jokes in advance. That’s all.”
“I have respect for all artist, toh roast format se problem nahi hai, is cheej se problem hai ki I wish I was in on those jokes. Bas yahi baat hai.”

Discussing her delayed reaction, Kusha admitted she was initially paralyzed by the painful experience. She noted that feedback from others suggested that the roast did not follow appropriate protocols.
She remarked:
“My issue is not with comedy or roasting. I’ve been in this industry long enough to understand that.”
The roast episode featuring Kusha has garnered approximately 13.2 million views. While some viewers enjoyed the content, others were concerned about its personal nature, including references to her ex-husband and their pet. Despite the backlash, no formal apology or acknowledgment of the roast’s insensitivity has been issued.
