Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Kerala-born rapper HanuMankind, whose real name is Sooraj Cherukat, on Sunday during the ‘Modi & US’ event held at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. The event was part of PM Modi’s three-day visit to the United States, focused on enhancing the relationship between the two nations.
HanuMankind energized the audience with his dynamic performance, with several clips of his set shared widely on social media. Following the performance, PM Modi greeted the rapper with a handshake and a warm hug, even chanting “Jai Hanuman” before embracing him.
HanuMankind, known for popular tracks like “Big Dawgs,” “Rush Hour,” “Genghis,” and “Go To Sleep,” is gaining prominence in the hip-hop scene.
The event also featured other artists, such as singer Aditya Gadhvi and composer Devi Sri Prasad. Aditya, famous for his viral hit “Khalasi,” performed in front of a crowd of 13,500, while Devi Sri Prasad, known for his work in hit films like Pushpa: The Rise and Waltair Veerayya, also had the chance to meet the Prime Minister.

Additionally, members of the Tamil Nadu expatriate community showcased the traditional musical instrument ‘Parai,’ and outside the venue, a group performed Mallakhamb, a traditional acrobatic art from Maharashtra.
During the event on September 22, PM Modi addressed a large gathering of Indian-Americans, highlighting India’s rapid progress and calling the Indian diaspora “brand ambassadors” of the country. He praised their role in strengthening ties between India and the United States, referring to them as a “bridge” connecting the two democracies.
After the event, PM Modi met with several American tech company CEOs at a roundtable. He is also scheduled to address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly in New York today.
