Naseeruddin Shah’s recent remarks about Prime Minister Modi wearing a skullcap have ignited widespread controversy online. The veteran actor, known for his outspoken views, suggested that Modi should consider donning a skullcap as a symbolic gesture towards India’s Muslim community.
In an interview with The Wire, Shah commented
”Modi seems fond of headgear. I’d like to see him wear a skullcap someday… just wearing a skullcap would be a gesture. After his refusal to wear skullcap at a function, where the maulvis presented him with one, it is difficult to erase that memory.”
The actor referred to an event in 2011.
Naseeruddin went on to express
”But if he does, it would be a gesture that ‘I am not separate from you. You and I are citizens of the same country. I have no aversion to you’. If he were to convince the Muslims of this country of that I think that would be a great help.”

Naseeruddin Shah criticized the absence of Muslim representation in Modi’s current cabinet, marking it as a notable departure from historical precedent.
Shah said,
‘‘It is depressing, but not surprising. The hatred for Muslims seems to be visceral… Hamid Ansari said there is an element of apprehension among the Muslims in the country”.
”It is something we just have to get to, it is not something the Hindus alone or the Muslims alone can do. It is something we have to do together”.

We would like to see you revert back to your forefathers religion and not be an extremist Islamist anymore. But alas, not everyone gets what they wish. #NaseeruddinShah

Why? Mr Shah
Hindus don’t want you to shave your head, wear janeu, apply tilak & do Aarti !!They won’t stop you either !!
This is the basic difference between Sanatan dharma and other religions!!

We have never seen Naseeruddin Shah himself wearing a skull cap in public and his wife wearing Burkha. Are these buggers paid to say things? Or just big motor mouths?
