An old video of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh discussing his father’s mental health issues has resurfaced and gone viral amid the ongoing controversy involving MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
Recently, Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, publicly criticized Dhoni, accusing him of ruining Yuvraj’s cricket career and claiming he would never forgive Dhoni. Yuvraj announced his retirement from international cricket in 2019 after a two-year hiatus. Yograj believes that Yuvraj’s career might have flourished further had Dhoni offered him support.
In his remarks, Yograj Singh expressed his frustration with Dhoni on the Zee Switch YouTube channel, stating,
“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life. That man (Dhoni) has destroyed the life of my son, who could have played four to five years more. I dare everyone to give birth to a son like Yuvraj,”
Yograj also took aim at Kapil Dev, with whom he has had a strained relationship. He criticized Dev, saying,
“The greatest captain of our time, Kapil Dev… I told him, I’ll leave you in a position where the world would curse you. Today, Yuvraj Singh has 13 trophies, and you have only one, the World Cup. End of discussion.”
In light of these statements, a clip of Yuvraj Singh addressing his father’s mental health issues has gained attention. On Ranveer Allahbdia’s podcast in November 2023, Yuvraj mentioned,
“I feel my father has a mental issue, which he refuses to acknowledge. This is something he needs to confront, but he won’t accept it.”
