After being discharged from the hospital, Govinda held a press conference at his Mumbai residence to discuss the accidental shooting incident that occurred on October 1.
The actor accidentally shot himself in the leg with his licensed revolver. Reflecting on the incident, Govinda shared,
“Initially, I couldn’t believe it had happened,” Govinda recalled. “Thoda gehra lag gaya tha, jab laga tab vishwas nahi hua. Aisa laga ke yeh kya hua? (It is a deep wound, and I couldn’t believe it had happened. I thought, ‘What just occurred?’)”
Govinda revealed that he was alone when the mishap occurred, around 4:45-5:00 am, as he was preparing to leave for Kolkata for a show. He recounted,
“I was getting ready to leave for the show… for Kolkata. It was in the morning, around 4.45-5 am. Woh giri aur chal padi (the revolver fell and misfired). I felt a jhatka (I was shocked) and when I saw… there was a fountain (of blood).”
“I thought I should not associate this incident with anyone else and trouble them so I shot some videos and was then rushed to Dr Agarwal. He then came with us and took me to Criti Care hospital,” he added.
He explained that he didn’t want to trouble anyone else, so he recorded some videos of the incident before being rushed to Dr. Agarwal, who took him to Criti Care hospital.

When asked about the need for a loaded revolver, Govinda admitted that he tends to be carefree, saying,
When we are getting ready in the morning itself feels like whatever you are doing in haste is right… Main thoda sa mast raha karta hoon (I’m a bit careless/carefree by nature), so I felt nothing was wrong. I am a bit sahaj (easy-going) I didn’t think something like this would happen. But one should be careful. I hope something like this doesn’t happen to anyone, they can learn from my incident.”
Govinda attributed his possession of the revolver to the nature of fame, stating,
““Fame is a flame and you have to be aware of the flame which is around, all over the world. It is like fire when you get successful and you have to tread carefully. When you have so many people who love you there are also some who are jealous of you which is also not an issue, it comes across in the form of spardha (competition)… but I would like to say that this incident should not be attached to anyone or anything. There should be no galatfehmi (misconceptions) around.”
He concluded by thanking everyone for their support and prayers.
