Honey Singh recently opened up about his highly publicized divorce from Shalini Talwar. The rapper and his wife officially parted ways in November 2023 after a Delhi court granted their divorce, which was settled mutually. Before finalizing the separation, the court asked Honey Singh if he wanted to reconsider, but he stated there was no point in continuing the marriage.
During an interview on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, Honey Singh spoke candidly about the challenging period in his life.
He reflected on a conversation he had with Sonakshi Sinha a decade ago while filming the Desi Kalakaar music video. The two had an in-depth discussion about marriage, with Honey confiding in Sonakshi about the troubles in his relationship. Despite not being married herself at the time, Sonakshi offered valuable insights into the meaning of marriage, which left a lasting impression on Honey.
While shooting in Los Angeles, Sonakshi and I had a long discussion about marriage. I was going through a rough patch in my own marriage, and I confided in her about it. She shared her views on what marriage really means, even though she wasn’t married herself back then. I could see in her eyes that she deeply understood the importance of a marital relationship, even though she herself hadn’t been married yet. So, when her wedding day finally came, I remembered our conversation and was genuinely happy for her.”
He commended Sonakshi for her maturity and understanding of relationships, even at a young age. Honey shared that when Sonakshi eventually got married, he fondly remembered their conversation and was genuinely happy for her.
Speaking about his divorce, Honey revealed that the separation didn’t emotionally impact him much. He explained that it was a sudden process and, after the split, his health significantly improved. Honey Singh, who had been unwell for years, said that his symptoms subsided, his medication reduced, and he began feeling better. “It felt like I was seeing the world for the first time in seven years,” he remarked.
“Mere ko nahi affect kiya kuch bhi. Jab mera separation hua, uske baad main theek hona shuru hua hu, uske baad meri dawaai kum hui hai
(I was sick for a long time, and after the separation, I started feeling better. My medication reduced, and I stopped experiencing symptoms.) It was like I was seeing the world for the first time in seven years.”
Honey Singh also mentioned that he and his ex-wife had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that prevents them from discussing each other publicly, which is why he chose not to delve into further details about their divorce.
