Diljit Dosanjh taught Jimmy Fallon the phrases “Punjabi agaye oye (The Punjabi is here)” and “Sat Sri Akal” before his debut on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The two shared a joint Instagram post on Tuesday ahead of the show.
Diljit Teaches Jimmy Punjabi
The video begins with Jimmy Fallon and Diljit Dosanjh hugging. The clip’s text reads, “Learning how to speak Punjabi with Diljit Dosanjh.” Diljit first says, “Punjabi agaye oye,” which Jimmy repeats. Then, Diljit folds his hands and says, “Sat Sri Akal,” a Punjabi greeting. Jimmy repeats it accurately, prompting Diljit to say, “Wow.” Diljit wears a traditional outfit—a white kurta pyjama, matching turban, and black half jacket. The video, captioned “Sat Sri Akal! @diljitdosanjh,” ends with them laughing and hugging.
