Veena Nagda’s Humble Beginnings with the Ambanis
Veena recalled her early days with the Ambanis, starting 38 years ago, when she charged just Rs. 25 for two hands of henna – her first payment from the prestigious family. She mentioned that it was Kokilaben Ambani who advised her to get a telephone and a card, which prompted her to take that step. Veena also praised the Ambani family, highlighting the 38-year-long relationship, spanning from Kokilaben to Nita Ambani.
In the same interview, Veena revealed that her neighbors suggested she charge a higher fee when she first got the opportunity to work with the Ambanis, but she chose not to. She followed her mother’s advice to charge the same as she would for any regular customer, viewing it as a significant opportunity.
Veena Nagda Reminisces About Isha Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s Childhood Mehendi
Continuing in the interview, Veena shared that she has been Isha Ambani’s mehendi artist since Isha was just six years old. She reminisced about attending a function hosted by Dhirubhai Ambani and adorning his daughters’ hands with mehendi. Veena also fondly recalled doing mehendi for Shloka Mehta at the same age. She mentioned that despite being in Singapore for their studies, Isha and Shloka would have mehendi parties whenever they returned home.
Veena Nagda’s Admiration for Nita Ambani
Veena expressed her excitement about being invited to the Paris Olympics 2024, where she admired Nita Ambani’s efforts to showcase Indian culture. She spoke about the mehendi stall at the Indian House during the Paris Olympics, which attracted visitors from around the world. The design of the Olympic rings became a popular choice, and Nita Ambani suggested incorporating Indian cultural elements like the lotus and peacock into the designs.
Speaking further about Nita Ambani, Veena praised her perfectionism, recalling how, during Isha Ambani’s wedding, Nita complimented her in front of designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, acknowledging her professionalism.
