Karan Johar was taken aback when an Instagram user questioned him about the biological mother of his twins, Yash and Roohi. Known for gracefully handling trolls, Johar delivered a pointed response to the intrusive query.
In February 2017, Karan Johar welcomed his twins through surrogacy. He named his son Yash in honor of his late father, a distinguished film producer, and chose Roohi by modifying his mother’s name, Hiroo.
Despite frequently sharing charming photos of his children on social media, Karan Johar was surprised by a troll’s question about his twins’ biological mother.
Reacting sharply, he wrote:
“I am!!! I am so worried about your confused state, so I had to answer your pertinent and relevant query.”
Johar’s fans quickly rallied in his support, praising his swift and assertive response.
One user commented, “A man can indeed be both a father and a mother, just as a woman can fulfill both roles. Your parenting is commendable.” Another added,
“If a single mother can be both parents, why can’t a man? Hope this helps you sleep better.”
In a previous interview with Faye D’Souza, Johar discussed the challenges of single parenthood, including his children’s questions about their biological mother. He shared his struggles in answering these innocent inquiries, highlighting the unique nature of his modern family.
It is a modern family. It is an unusual circumstance, so now I am also dealing with the questions about ‘whose stomach was I born in? But mumma is not mumma really, she is my grandmother.”
Karan Johar has faced criticism before, notably when a troll suggested he should find a daughter-in-law for his mother. Johar responded by condemning the outdated notion and clarifying that his mother helps with co-parenting, showing no need for such a “time pass.”
