An Indian-American entrepreneur recently shared a troubling account of his 15-hour non-stop flight from Chicago to New Delhi aboard Air India.
In a now-viral Instagram post, he admitted to having heard negative feedback about the airline in the past but decided to give it a chance, hoping for improvements under its new management.
However, upon entering his first-class cabin, he was met with disappointment as
“everything looked worn out or broken.”
The flyer described the first-class section as being in poor condition, with dirty furniture, leftover food, and trash scattered in the cabin. There was no wi-fi, and the in-flight entertainment system was non-functional. To make matters worse, 30 percent of the food menu was unavailable, with only one option offered for the four first-class passengers.
The video quickly went viral, prompting Air India to reach out to the passenger.
As mentioned in a follow-up comment on his reel, the Air India offered him a full refund.
Air India, founded by J.R.D. Tata in 1932, was originally tasked with carrying mail for the Imperial Airways, serving the British Empire. The airline was reacquired by Tata Group in January 2022 after being partially under government ownership since 1947.
