Yogi Adityanath is one of the powerful politicians in India. He is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, which is the largest state in India. The state of Uttar Pradesh is so huge that its population is much more than many countries in the world.

Yogi Adityanath is an aggressive politician and he has been taking some really bold decisions since the day he took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. His one of the biggest goals is to make Uttar Pradesh a crime-free state and for that, he has taken some very aggressive administrative decisions.

According to a report published on NDTV, the Uttar Pradesh Police has gunned down 18 criminals in the last 48 hours and they are going to keep going after the criminals in the coming days, weeks, months and years.

Reportedly, The Uttar Pradesh Police have executed 18 encounters in the last 48 hours and arrested 25 people on its wanted-list and killing one criminal with a 25,000 rupee reward on his head in Muzaffarnagar.

The Special Task Force (STF) gunned down Indrapal, who had 33 criminal cases pending against him, in western UP’s Muzaffarnagar. According to the official statement given by Uttar Pradesh police, Indrapal was involved in a shootout in Uttarakhand ‘s Haridwar in 2013 in which a policeman was also killed.

“Encounters keep happening because we have to catch criminals. Encounters happen because we fire in self-defence,” Director General of Police OP Singh said at recent press conference.

However, this aggressive policy of the Yogi Adityanath government and Uttar Pradesh Police has attracted a notice by the National Human Rights commission last November, who asked for a detailed report on killings in encounters.

“The NHRC has taken suo motu cognisance of media reports about the government of Uttar Pradesh allegedly endorsing killings in encounters by police, seeking improvement in the law and order situation in the state,” the NHRC said in a statement.
