Trollers Insulted ‘Newton’ For Not Making To Oscars. Hansal Mehta Shut Them Down With A Brilliant Reply

This year, India’s entry to Oscars was Rajkumar Rao’s Newton. Unlike most of the Bollywood movies, it wasn’t a very high budget movie and there were no commercial songs and item numbers. And this is the reason why many fans were surprised when this news broke on the internet.

But, once it was announced that Newton has been selected as one the entries for Oscars, Bollywood fraternity and fans got together and applauded the efforts put in by Newton’s cast and crew.

However, unfortunately, Newton couldn’t proceed further and was not selected in the list of top 9.

Here’s the list of 9 films that were selected-

A Fantastic Woman (Chile)
In the Fade (Germany)
On Body and Soul (Hungary)
Foxtrot (Israel)
The Insult (Lebanon)
Loveless (Russia)
Felicite (Senegal)
The Wound (South Africa)
The Square (Sweden)

At a time when fans and critics should have gotten together and praising efforts, a section of fans started trolling Newton and its cast members after the news of their exit from Oscars reached social media.

This made filmmaker and Rajkumar Rao’s friend Hansal Mehta very sad and angry and he shared his thoughts on Twitter.

Hansal wrote: “Am tempted to use unparliamentary language with all those who are rejoicing and trolling me on the fact that Newton did not make it to the Oscars. Oscars or no Oscars it remains one of the finest films made in our country in a long time.”

And after Hansal sent out this tweet, fans agreed with his feelings and praised his efforts.
