Manushi Chhillar Got Trolled Badly For Wearing ‘Short’ Clothes. When Will This End?

Miss World 2017, Manushi Chillar is in news again and this time not for the right reasons. As we have often observed in India, slut-shaming girls is a thing and celebrities very often get slut-shamed over the social media. Where do we draw the line?

Every year we keenly wait for Dabboo Ratnani’s celebrity calendar and this year Manushi too made it to Dabboo’s list of celebrities featuring on the calendar. Manushi was elated to be a part of it and she took to social media to share a short from her shoot with Dabboo Ratnani.

Manushi after posting the picture on social media was irrationally slut-shamed and people criticised her for wearing short clothes and some of these responses to her post were beyond the limits of sophistication. Slut shaming has become a thing in India and that shows that mentally we are still nowhere in the frame of development.

This is not the first instance when a celebrity was slut-shamed over the social media. This is just the latest from the list of many instances. People come up with sickening remarks for these celebrities and that is indeed unfortunate.

Even the biggest bombshells in Bollywood like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, and Sonam Kapoor have all been slut-shamed over the social media for wearing revealing clothes. But the question is, who decides what is revealing and what is not? Who decides what is decent and what is not?

For how long in India would we need to seek permission from others to eat what we feel like, to wear what we wish to and to live how we aspire to? These societal pressures and trolls are holding us back and they only speak for the rotten mindsets which think of themselves as being so significant that they can judge others.

If revealing clothes do not exhibit decency then these sickening remarks which are aimed at slut-shaming or body shaming are the most indecent of all. People must put some sense in their head and look within before they judge others.
