‘Ishwar Kaka’ Of Lagaan, Shrivallabh Vyas, Passes Away. He Struggled To Pay Hospital Bill In His Last Days

Lagaan is one of the most loved and popular movies in the history of Bollywood. And you all would know Shrivallab Vyas, who played the memorable character of Ishwar Kaka. The talented actor, unfortunately, passed away this morning and left so many good memories behind.

Shrivallab Vyas worked in more than 60 Hindi movies and also did many regional movies and television shows. But, for us, he will always be remembered as Ishwar Kaka who kept the wickets for the Champaran team against the Britishers, in Lagaan.

Vyas suffered a brain stroke a few years ago and was paralysed, even unable to move and speak. Due to financial constraints, his family had shifted to Jaipur. It needs to be said that Bollywood came together to help him as Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Irrfab and a few other Bollywood celebrities were taking care of his medical expenses.

Actor Daya Shankar Pandey, who is a close family friend of Vyas, confirmed the demise news.He said, “Vyas was a great actor and we will miss him immensely. He died on Sunday morning around 9.30 am and his last rites will take place in the evening today. He has two daughters and his wife struggled a lot while taking care of Vyas.”

“He was a very well-read man and an immensely talented actor, but he didn’t get his dues. But his work has always spoken for him. He was also into singing and had started writing too, but life was cruel to him,” added Daya Shankar.
