Recently, IKEA landed their first steps in India as they opened their maiden store in Hyderabad on August 9th. Well, IKEA is the Swedish Retail Giant that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories.
As the giant opened their first store in Hyderabad,it made people go berserk. The traffic was brought to a standstill for hours and the waiting period was around 3-4 hours as the store can handle only 1000 customers at a time.
Infact since the inaugural day, IKEA has been trending on social media for all the weird reasons, courtesy to the people going berserk over the brand. Many videos and pics are floating on social media, which clearly shows how people are going crazy for IKEA, as if it will vanish after the inaugural day.
Well, the reason for this crazy madness is the affordable price of IKEA’s stuff. In the India store, we could see that the price of many items was lesser than Rs 200.From bed bath, textiles, mattresses as well as have a huge children’s section, IKEA have everything and anything in affordable rates. More than 40,000 people visited the store on the very first day.
Another good reason for why people where visiting the store like mad was the other section of the store that is a 1000 seater restaurant which offered biryani for Rs 99 and meat balls for Rs 149.
The store is spread in an area of 4,00,000-sq-ft. Getting a Swedish brand and that too at some very reasonable price resulted in jam packed roads and additional officials had to be deployed to control the horrible traffic conditions. The pictures and videos of the traffic jam and of the inside of the mall are shocking. Here, have a look at the reactions of twitterati :

The crazy and unnecessary traffic and rush in and around #Ikea Hyderabad. People need to relax, Ikea is not going anywhere. Stop running around, you may hurt yourself or others. Stay safe.

#Ikea opening completely messed up Hyderabad traffic! 90% of Hyderabadis have no traffic sense & that’s leading to massive traffic chaos. Very unplanned launch of @Ikea . High time Govt. Should levy heavy fines to curb traffic menace & violations @TelanganaCMO @cybtraffic
