Amidst all the protests and beefed up security, Padmaavat finally released after crossing all the hurdles in it’s way on 25th January 2018. No doubt the film is a blockbuster hit and is still doing great at the Box Office. Padmaavat has been widely acclaimed by the critics and the viewers are showering their love on the movie.
It won’t be wrong to say that Padmaavat saw the heights of controversies, that no other movie would have seen. The Director was slapped, the leading lady was threatened, violent protests took place all over India, from burning the vehicles to throwing stones at them, from banning the movie in several parts of the country to stopping the people from watching this movie, Karni Sena left no stone unturned to stop people from watching this movie.
The President of Karni Sena, Mahipal Singh Makrana, even threatened the leading actress, Deepika Padukone who is portraying the role of Queen Padmavati in the movie, of chopping off her nose if she didn’t stop promoting Padamaavat.
If this wasn’t enough, the president of Kanpur Kshatriya Mahasabha, Gajendra Singh, made an announcement of bounty on Deepika Padukone’s nose.
Although, Deepika Padukone was silent and chose to ignore everything, but now she has responded to these threats and it seems she is least bothered about these threats. Here’s what she said :
“I did have a thought at that point… My feet are a tad too big. I like my nose but you can take my feet.”
When asked about what she felt like, about all the controversies that happened since the very beginning, she said:
“When we were shooting the film, or specifically when I was shooting for the film, there were only two incidents that happened. I had told Sanjay sir at that point – considering the fact that this in a way was a turning point in my career in terms of the budget and scale and success of the film – even then I was willing to put this on hold to fight a much larger cause. I had told Sanjay sir that something didn’t feel right. It is not that people had not had issues with earlier films. Shabana ji’s films have had issues in the past but this to me right from the very beginning just felt very different. It is not the usual disappointment, protest or anger that people have felt before for certain films, it was something different.”
Indeed, she gave an amazing reply.
