Censor Board Has Changed The Name Of Padmavati And Made 26 Cuts. Twitterati Go Berserk

Finally, after months of debates, discussions and drama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has been passed by CBFC with U/A certificate, and the name of the movie has been changed to ‘Padmavat’.

Repeatedly, The censor board has also told the makers to make 26 cuts and disclaimers will be shown before the start of the film and after the interval too, which will state that this movie is a work of fiction and has no connection with any historical figure.

This comes after a mass protest by Rajputs and other right-wing organisations all across the nation. Rajput groups organised mass protests saying their queens don’t dance in front of other men in Rajput royal households as shown in the movie. They also claimed that there is a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Aladdin Khilji, which they will never let any do on the silver screen.

The scale of protests grew every day and, in fact, prizes were announced on the heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone and one Rajput leader went on to say that he will chop Deepika Padukone’s nose for “insulting” their queen.

As the news broke, Twitterati, as always, had some interesting things to say and we have embedded some of the best tweets on the topic here:
