India’s Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is in Pakistani custody for alleged charges of spying and terrorism, met his wife Chetna and mother Avanti for the first time since his arrest on 25/12/2017.

Jadhav’s wife and mother were treated in the most inhuman way by Pakistani authorities. First, they were asked to remove their bangles, mangalsutras and bindis and then the media persons insulted them by asking insulting and inappropriate questions.

In response to their shameful behaviour, India’s Minister of External Affairs Mrs. Sushma Swaraj launched a strong attack on Pakistan’s establishment in the Rajya Sabha.

“Avanti Jadhav choked up as she told me the first question her son asked was – how is Baba (father)? Looking at me like this, he feared something bad had happened…he was reassured only when he saw his wife in the same state,” Ms Swaraj said in an impassioned and hard-hitting statement in both houses.

“His mother told me she told the Pakistani officials she had never removed the mangalsutra, the symbol of her marriage…but they said nothing doing. This is the height of be-adabi (misbehavior).”

Cries of “Pakistan Murdabad (down with Pakistan)” rang out in the Lok Sabha.

Amidst all this, Pakistan’s popular journalist Mehr Tarar called Kulbubshan Jadhav a “terrorist” and questioned how his family was “ill-treated”? She also said India treats Pakistan worse than anything yet cries hoarse about Pak’s “injustices”.
