The highly anticipated sequel Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has already surpassed Rs 23 crore at the box office and is on track to exceed Rs 50 crores by the end of the weekend. Released on Independence Day 2024, the film has received glowing reviews from both critics and audiences on social media, though some fans feel the original Stree (2018) was superior.
This sequel is the fifth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, which also includes Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, with another project titled ‘Vampires of Vijaynagar’ on the horizon.
Stree 2 features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishekh Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and others reprising their roles, along with special cameos and a dance number by Tamannaah Bhatia.
Set in the quaint town of Chanderi, the film is written by screenwriter and lyricist Niren Bhatt.

The sole reason for #Stree2 HYPE 😂 pic.twitter.com/Gy2NQw6ftW

A few noted Tamannaah’s contribution as a new ingredient for success in films. Enthusiastic responses included tweets like “Bahot maza aa rha hai bheedu” and “Interval mazedar ekdm.” Additionally, a netizen pointed out an Easter egg related to ‘sarkata’ in a scene from the film. However, not all feedback was positive; some critics felt the movie did not live up to the ‘HYPE’ and described the first half as sluggish and filled with outdated jokes.
