Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah aka TMKOC is a widely popular Indian television sitcom that has been running since 2008. The show is one of the most popular shows in the country.
The comedy sitcom is based on journalist Taarak Mehta’s “Duniya Ne Undha Chasma” column from the Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha and has always been fans’ favorite for its wholesome humor and family-friendly content.
TMKOC’s plot is based on the Gokuldham Society, a housing society in Bombay, and the everyday difficulties the society members go through. Not only the show’s plot but also its case has grabbed a lot of love and praise from the audience.
However, in the last few years, the show has been involved in several controversies, mostly related to its casting. Several members of the original cast left owing to various reasons but one exit that grabbed a lot of limelight is the original Taarak Mehta Shailesh Lodha’s exit from the show.
Once he decided to leave the show last year, Shailesh Lodha left his admirers and followers heartbroken. The actor, who had a major part in the show, gave no explanation at the time. But now it seems that he is prepared to answer every question.
Shailesh Lodha answers questions related to his exit from TMKOC
At an event that took place recently, Shailesh was recently questioned why he left the comedy despite being a much-loved member of it. In his reply, he opened up about the real reason behind his exit.
Answering the question, he said,
In this country, publishers wear a diamond ring and a writer, who wants to get his book published, has to shell out money. If people, who earn from the talent of other people, start considering themselves over and above the talented people, then a talented person should raise their voices. Maybe I am one of those talented people who has raised his voice.
He added,
Those who earn popularity due to the work of an artist cannot be bigger than the artist. Any publisher in the world cannot be bigger than the writer. Any producer cannot be bigger than the actor. He is a businessman. If any businessman tries to overpower the actor or poet in me, I will strongly condemn it.
What Lodha’s words meant?
Reportedly, Shailesh Lodha departed the program owing to disagreements with producer Asit Modi last year. The actor, though, never brought it up in conversation. On Instagram, he did publish a few things indicating his conflict with the producers.
Nevertheless, his recent comments cleared what he was trying to indicate in the few past months. After Shailesh Lodha’s exit, actor Sachin Shroff has taken Shailesh’s position on TMKOC. Apart from Lodha, even Raj Anadkat, portraying Tappu, son of Jethalal, also made a public announcement of his departure in December of last year.
In his place, producers have introduced Nitish Bhaluni as the new Tappu.
Disha Vakani, who played the main lead of ‘Daya’ also left the show a long ago and never came back. Earlier, Sodhi, Sonu, Anjali Bhabi were also replaced.
