Miss Universe India 2024 finalist Chayanika Debnath recently took to Instagram to share a shocking experience—she discovered worms in a rice bowl she had ordered from The Good Bowl, a well-known cloud kitchen with outlets across the country. Her post quickly went viral, raising serious concerns about food safety and hygiene in online food delivery services.
Disturbing Discovery in a Meal from The Good Bowl
In her viral reel, Chayanika described how she was casually eating her rice bowl while watching TV when she noticed some blackish grains. She initially ignored them but soon experienced an odd taste in her mouth. When she spat out the morsel onto a plate, she was horrified to find a half-eaten worm. Upon closer inspection, she found more worms in the meal.
Chayanika, a frequent customer of The Good Bowl, expressed her disappointment and frustration, highlighting the plight of working professionals who rely on food delivery services and place their trust in established brands.
Swiggy’s Response and Chayanika’s Complaint
Chayanika revealed that after reporting the incident, Swiggy refunded her money but took no further action. Displeased with the response, she tagged both Swiggy and The Good Bowl in her caption, writing:
“Thank you @swiggyindia and @thegoodbowlindia for feeding me worms when I asked for a bowl of rice. Customers’ health and hygiene while preparing meals is a joke for you!!! And Swiggy’s answer to this issue is, ‘We’ve refunded.’ I’ve mailed Swiggy for strict action against the restaurant and am still waiting for a response whereas when I reached out to Good Bowl’s Insta handle, they just asked for my number and vanished! Boom!!”

Swiggy and The Good Bowl React
Swiggy responded in the comments, stating:
“Hi Chayanika, that shouldn’t have happened. Could you please help us with the order details on DM, so we can run this by the team?”
Similarly, The Good Bowl acknowledged the issue, commenting:
“We are extremely sorry you had to go through this. We are looking into this, and we assure you we will get to the bottom of this. Sorry for the experience once again!”
Public Reactions and Concerns About Cloud Kitchens
Many Instagram users reacted strongly to the video, expressing concerns over the hygiene standards of cloud kitchens. One user commented:
“You have to see these cloud kitchens in real life – they are so dirty. There was a reel that went viral 2-3 weeks back of Fresh Menu’s kitchen. Trust me, invest a couple of hours in the weekend for meal preps and get sorted.”
Another user wrote:
“OMG! This is disgusting and scary! Completely unacceptable! Even I’m also a regular customer of The Good Bowl.”
This incident follows a previously viral clip exposing the unhygienic conditions of a Fresh Menu cloud kitchen in Mumbai, raising broader concerns about the safety of food ordered from such establishments.
Following the backlash, Chayanika disabled comments on her post.
