The rise of meal delivery services like Uber Eats, Zomato, and Swiggy has significantly transformed dining habits worldwide. However, recent incidents in India have raised serious concerns about quality assurance and customer safety. Alarming reports of dead mice in Hershey’s chocolate syrup, a dead centipede in Amul ice cream, and a human finger in Yummo ice cream have called into question the health and reliability of these services.
In Hyderabad, a disturbing event recently caused a stir. A customer who ordered chicken biryani from Mehfil in Nizampet Kukatpally via Swiggy discovered maggots in it. Following this, another complaint arose from the same restaurant chain: a customer found a bone in his paneer biryani, leading to widespread outrage and prompting a response from Swiggy.
Avinash, a user on the social media platform X, shared his concerns about Swiggy’s deliveries in Hyderabad, citing recent hygiene issues.
He claimed to have found a bone in his paneer biryani, which he ordered from the Mehfil franchise in Nizampet Kukatpally. Along with a photo of the meal, he wrote:
“Same issue I have ordered a Paneer Biryani in Mehfil, Nizampet Kukatpally I got a bone in it.”

The tweet quickly went viral, garnering significant attention. While many criticized the restaurant for its poor service, others blamed Swiggy for allowing such outlets on their platform. Here are some of the responses:

Swiggy’s Response
In response to the issue, a Swiggy customer care executive expressed regret, stating:
“@Avinashtime Hi there, we’re very sorry to hear you received a non-veg item in your vegetarian order. Please share the order ID so we may pull up the details and assist you better. ^Vivek”

Later, the customer mentioned that the issue had been resolved. He also stated that he wanted to bring attention to the situation so that food inspectors could address quality issues affecting other people.
The issue has been resolved I’m sharing this because there are quite a few members are suffering so that the food inspection can conduct the quality issue

While this incident has been resolved, many similar cases are still pending. These incidents highlight the urgent need for strict quality control procedures in the food delivery industry. As customers increasingly rely on convenience platforms like Swiggy, it is essential to implement stringent measures to ensure food safety and compliance with dietary requirements.
