Comedian Sunil Grover is receiving heavy criticism on social media after asking actress Tripti Dimri an uncomfortable question during her appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show. Dimri, who is promoting her film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, was left uneasy by Grover’s remark, which has sparked widespread trolling online.
In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 stars Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Tripti Dimri, and director Anees Bazmee made an appearance.
During the show, Grover, in his “dafli” costume, asked Dimri, “You were the one in Eminal, right?” After Dimri confirmed, he continued, “What you did with Ranbir Kapoor was just part of the shoot, right? Nothing happened in real life?”
While the audience laughed, Dimri seemed visibly uncomfortable, responding, “I saw what you said about me,” and confirming that there was no real-life connection with Ranbir Kapoor. The moment went viral after the episode aired, drawing criticism from netizens who felt Grover’s question was inappropriate.
Social media users expressed their discomfort, with one writing, “It’s sad that this is being treated as a joke,” while another commented, “Triptii clearly feels awkward, and Sunil is still stuck on this topic.” Some questioned why Grover didn’t ask the same question to Ranbir, with others calling the comedian’s humor “absurd” for making a woman uncomfortable.
Dimri, who rose to fame with her bold scenes in Animal, previously earned praise for her roles in films like Bulbul and Qala, but it was her part in Animal that made her an overnight sensation, even earning her the title of “national crush.”
Despite her acting skills, it’s unfortunate that Dimri’s breakthrough came in a side role in Animal, with the attention often focusing more on her bold on-screen moments than her critically acclaimed performances.
